Barcelona have officially confirmed their purchase of Manchester City starlet Denis Suarez, according to Marca.com.
The 19-year-old, who is touted as being the man who will ultimately
succeed Xavi in Spanish football, completed his move to the Nou Camp on a
four-year-contract. Suarez originally signed for City in 2011, after the Manchester club
fought off strong interest from the likes of Chelsea, Manchester United
and, coincidentally, Barcelona. The Spain U-20 international, who failed to make a senior appearance
for the Citizens during his time in England, will slot into the
Catalan's B team in order to continue his development. Marca.com reports
that the cost to Barcelona will be an initial fee of €1.8million but
could contain almost €8million in add-ons, dependant upon appearances.
Suarez was voted City's Young Player of the Season in 2012.
