Angolan government representatives have rejected reports that Angola had become the first country in the world to ban Islam and Muslims as false. According to Connor Adams Sheets, a senior reporter with the International Business Times, an official at the Angolan embassy in Washington DC said the reports were erroneous.

A human rights campaigner and lawyer, Mr Bamidele Aturu, on Tuesday urged that the proposed national conference should not be organised with state resources. Aturu made the statement at a news conference in Lagos. He advised that groups and nationalities interested in participation should sponsor themselves to make the conference genuine.
