The hope that the four month old strike by the Academic Staff Union
of Universities, ASUU, may be called off this week, following President
Goodluck Jonathan’s intervention last week, may be dashed as the 61
chapters of the union are divided over the move to call off the strike.

ASUU Expected To Call Off Strike This Week
The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, may call off its
four-month-old strike this week, as all chapters of the union are
expected to hold their congresses today to brief members on President
Goodluck Jonathan’s latest offer. Speaking to Vanguard, a branch Chairman of ASUU said the meeting was
for the chairmen to brief members on the outcome of their meeting with
President Jonathan.
