The presidency on Wednesday for the umpteenth time pleaded with the
Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, to call off their five-month
old strike just as it claimed that the sum of N200 billion requested by
the union as a sign of faith that government is sincere in its
commitment to revitalize the nation’s comatose universities, has been
paid into an account with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

ASUU: Now That The FG Has Shifted Grounds, Strike Will End Soon
Chairman, Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), University of
Ibadan branch, Dr Segun Ajiboye, yesterday said that the strike by the
union which has entered sixth month would soon come to an end,
especially as the federal government has begun to shift grounds. He
however did not give details of the ‘ground-shifting’ he talked about.

Mrs. Joy Ifijeh, the widow who was abused by the Governor of Edo
state, Adams Oshiomhole, said she ignored the offer of N250,000 by the
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) because she was satisfied with the
apology, job offer and N2m by the Governor.
