Nigerians were utterly astounded by The whirling rainbow or the sunbow that revealed itself on Tuesday. According to reports, Many rushed out at about 1.00 p.m. to view the spectacular event. But the blaze of the sun stopped many from a direct gaze. Scientists say that this isn’t technically a rainbow since it is on the opposite side of the sky as the sun, so they call it a halo.  Whatever it is, it is marvelous to see.

Nigeria Has 35m Illiterate Adults – Minister

Nigeria’s adult illiterates have increased from 25 million in 1997 to 35 million in 2013, according to Minister of State for Education, Chief Nyesom Wike. Speaking, yesterday, at a ministerial briefing to commemorate the 2013 International Literacy Day themed “Literacy for 21st century”, Wike said Nigeria had over 10.5 million children out of school which, according to him, is embarrassing to the nation.

Suswan Appeals To ASUU To Shift Grounds On Demand

Chairman of the Implementation Committee on the Needs Assessment of Universities and Governor of Benue State, Mr. Gabriel Suswan, has appealed to members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, to shift grounds on their demand for 100 per cent implementation of the 2009 FGN/ASUU agreement.

Pastor Rapes and Impregnates Senior Pastor's Daughter; Now Runs A Miracle Church

A 29-year-old pastor standing trial for raping and impregnating his senior pastor’s daughter in Ikere-Ekiti, Ekiti State, has run away to establish his own church, and performing miracles. He raped the girl in July last year when the youth of the church were having a special programme at night, but Damiolola’s mother said: “We did not know the girl was pregnant until January this year, while he (pastor) had hurriedly left in September 2012.”
