Sao Paulo World Cup Stadium Crane Collapse

Two lives have been lost and another injured in an accident at a Sao Paulo stadium that is due to host the opening ceremony of the 2014 World Cup football. A senior local fire official said crews were called to the Arena Corinthians after reports of a collapsed crane. The crane fell on the the stadium, destroying parts of the stands.

BREAKING NEWS: Nigerian government gives ASUU one week ultimatum to call off strike

ASUU has been on strike since July 1. The Federal Government on Thursday gave the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, one week ultimatum to call off the ongoing strike. The acting Minister of Education, Nyesom Wike, stated this while briefing journalists in Abuja. ASUU has been on a nationwide strike since July 1, demanding the government implements a 2009 agreement it had with the union.

Chancellors Order Universities To Reopen

The Committee of Pro-Chancellors of Federal Universities on Tuesday called for the immediate re-opening of all shut down universities across the country. This is contained in a communiqué signed by the committee’s Chairman, Prof. Kimse Okoko, released in Abuja on Tuesday.
