Jega Sacks Two Electoral Officers In Edo For Disappearance Of Result Sheets

Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof.Atahiru Jega has sacked two Electoral Officers attached to Oredo and Orhiomwon Local Government Areas of Edo state in the March 28 Presidential and National Assembly elections over alleged involvement in the disappearance of result sheets provided for elections in those areas.

Gabon to host 2017 Africa Cup of Nations

Gabon were named as the hosts of the next Africa Cup of Nations in 2017. They beat rival bids from Algeria and Ghana in a vote by the Confederation of African Football's (CAF) executive committee at a meeting in Cairo. Gabon replaces war-torn Libya, who withdrew last year as 2017 hosts because of the civil conflict raging in the country.

US policeman charged for 'shooting black man in back'

A white police officer from the US state of South Carolina has been charged with murder after a video showed him shooting eight times at the back of a 50-year-old black man who was running away. North Charleston Mayor Keith Summey said on Tuesday that state investigators decided to charge officer Michael Slager, 33, with the murder of Walter Scott after they viewed the video of the incident, which followed a traffic stop on Saturday morning.

Members of a family accused of dealing large quantities of methamphetamine and other drugs on the Central Coast were arrested Tuesday in a pre-dawn operation, federal authorities said.
