The Red Devils had already lodged bids earlier for the 24-year-old, but the Basque-club demanded for the player’s buy-out clause to be met, and as per latest reports, the deal will be announced soon, once United pay the money, which they have agreed to do. Having said that the deal is far from over, as the player will have to undergo and pass the medical. Midfield is one of the areas Moyes wanted to reinforce in the summer. Transfer Deadline Day: Arsenal in advanced talks to sign Mesut Ozil

Arsenal are finally looking to make the Transfer Deadline Day interesting, as the Gunners are thought to be involved in advanced talks with Real Madrid to sign attacking midfielder Mesut Ozil, reports Sky Sport. Madrid have signed Gareth Bale from Tottenham Hotspur for a world record fee £85.3m and are willing to hear offers for the German international. It has been a hugely frustrating summer for the Gunners, having failed to land any major names despite being linked with so many top international stars like Gonzalo Higuain and Luis Suarez. However, with reported £70 million burning hole in the pocket, Wenger is looking to part with a large chunk of it for the German creative midfielder. Having singed only Yaya Sanogo and Mathieu Flamini for free, Wenger again addressed the issue of getting in extra bodies after their 1-0 victory over Spurs yesterday, as the Gunners look to break their own transfer record, with a £42.5 million deal in the 11th hour of the transfer window. The 24-year-old has played over a 100 games for Real Madrid since he moved to Bernabeu in 2010 from Werder Bremen. The arrival of Bale and Isco at the club means, the talented German will drop down the pecking orders at the club, and though he reiterated last week that he wants to stay in Spain, he might be forced out. Arsenal have also been linked with a move for Madrid stars Angel di Maria and Karim Benzema, though it is highly unlikely that the Los Blancos will part with both of them.
Have your say below about the possibility of the deal…
