Men of the Ondo State Police Command have arrested two armed robbery
suspects who raided a filling station in Ondo town in the state capital. The robbers invaded the filling station, but were rounded up by a
patrol team from Fagun Police station who raced to the scene following a
tip off. However, three other members of the gang escaped with a loot totaling N250,000.
Consequently, two of the suspects, Ernest Otulor from Ebonyi State
and their alleged informant, Jeremiah Apkan who tricked the security man
attached to the filling station by sending him on an errand were
arrested. Items recovered from them include a Russian made single barrel cut to size gun and one cartridge with firearm. Confirming the arrest, State Police Public Relations Officer Wole
Ogodo said that the arrest of Ernest led to the arrest of Jeremiah who
serves as their informant. According to Ogodo, it was the informant that tricked and sent the
security man attached to the filling station on errand for the robbers
to have a free day. The state Police Spokesman added that a cartridge used for the operation was equally found in his house when it was searched. Ogodo pointed out that “three of the four man- gang escaped with the
sum two hundred and fifty thousand naira and two GSM handset”, adding
that the police will nab them very soon.
