Theft Of N2,500 Diesel Lands 3 In Prison

A 57-year-old security guard, Christopher Agbo, Daniel Ologunaga 45, a truck driver and Wole Arowolo, 38, cart mechanic were Monday arraigned before an Ikeja Magistrate Court for allegedly stealing diesel worth N2,500, property of Servetex Company.
It was gathered that the truck driver alongside the mechanic, went to meet the security man to release the truck to them for repairs, which they took to Magboro, but when they got there, they drained the diesel in the truck and filled the tank with hydraulic, which damaged the engine of the truck. The defendants who were arraigned before Magistrate Abimbola Oshodi-Makanju, are facing a three-count charge of conspiracy, stealing and malicious damage. The prosecutor, Inspector Chinalu Uwadione, said the defendants committed the alleged crime on March 20, 2013, at about 10:30pm at 52, Morrison Crescent in Alausa area of Lagos. He said the suspects conspired together to steal diesel from the tank of a Mack truck with number plate XV 35 AKD, worth N2,500, belonging to Servetex Company. According to the prosecutor, the offence committed is punishable under sections 409, 348 and 285 of the criminal law of Lagos state of Nigeria 2011. The defendants, however pleaded not guilty. Magistrate Oshodi- Makanju granted them bail in the sum of N100,000 each, with two sureties each in like sum and adjourned the case to September 29, 2013, for mention, while he ordered that they be remanded in prison custody, pending when they are able to perfect their bail conditions.
