Going, going, gone!
Somebody paid a pretty penny to own Kim Kardashian's old engagement ring from ex-husband Kris Humphries.
Omg! can confirm that the "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" star's
massive former sparkler was sold through Christie's auction house in NYC
Tuesday for $620,000! (However, when you add in Christie's markup, the
anonymous buyer will end up paying a total of $749,000.)
The
bling, designed by Kardashian go-to jeweler Lorraine Schwartz, clocked
in with a 16.21-carat center diamond and two 1.8-carat side diamonds. It
was purchased by an anonymous online bidder. Bidding started at
$200,000 for the piece of jewelry, which was reported to be worth $2
million when Humphries, 28, proposed in 2011. The exes were famously wed for just 72 days before Kardashian filed for divorce on October 31, 2011 — though it took over a year and a half for their split to be finalized (they were officially divorced in May 2013). Kardashian quickly moved on with rapper Kanye West, and the pair welcomed daughter North West on June 15 of this year.
Humphries' intention to sell the bauble was first reported by RumorFix last month.
"Kim has been waiting for the day he would auction it," a source told Us Weekly in
September, adding that Kardashian was the one who initially paid for
the ring. "Everyone always asked what Kim did with the ring — she
silently gave it back over a year ago! And Kris waiting until the
divorce was final to sell it."
Us Weekly's source scoffed, "The ring is definitely not worth $2 million, not even half of that."
Do you think the bling is worth $749K?
