Former South African President and anti-apartheid hero Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela is dead.
Confirming his death, South Africa’s president, Jacob Zuma addressed the nation to inform them of the passing of Nelson Mandela at 95 years old.

Finally Presidency Provides “Proof” Of Payment Of N200bn Into Designated CBN Account, Calls For End To ASUU Strike

The presidency on Wednesday for the umpteenth time pleaded with the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, to call off their five-month old strike just as it claimed that the sum of N200 billion requested by the union as a sign of faith that government is sincere in its commitment to revitalize the nation’s comatose universities, has been paid into an account with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

Chairman, Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), University of Ibadan branch, Dr Segun Ajiboye, yesterday said that the strike by the union which has entered sixth month would soon come to an end, especially as the federal government has begun to shift grounds. He however did not give details of the ‘ground-shifting’ he talked about.

‘Go And Die’: Insulted Widow Shuns PDP’s N250,000 Gift

The widow, Joy Ifijeh, who came into the limelight after a video of her begging to be spared by Gov. Oshiomhole went viral and caused widespread outrage across the country, yesterday shunned the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) N250,000 gift. According to report, Mrs. Ifijeh was absent at the launch of an empowerment fund to cater for widows in the state by the state chapter of the PDP at which she was to be presented with the N250,000 gift.

It seems the family of the late Afro Beat creator, FelaAnikulapo-Kuti, may have finally acknowledged that the music maestro died of AIDS related ailments.  This revelation was made known by theyounger son of the music legend, Seun Kuti,who confessed on Y!TV’s Rubbin’ Minds with Ebuka, that his father and mother actually died from the dreaded disease. Seun who has taken after his father, especially by being outspoken, confirmed that despite denials by family members when Fela died in1997, it was actually HIV/AIDS that killed him as well as his own mother. Seun therefore vowed to live a responsible life instead of following in that aspect of his father’s
