ASUU: ''Call Off Strike In Memory Of Iyayi'' - Saraki

Former Kwara state governor, Bukola Saraki, on Wednesday urged the leaders and members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to end the lingering 4-months strike. Mr. Saraki, who was reacting to the death ASUU former president, Dr. Festus Iyayi, in a road accident, said the union should consider calling off the strike in his memory.

Mr. Iyayi faced tragic death is blamed on the convoy of the Kogi State Governor, Idris Wada.
In Saraki's opinion, while there can be justifiable reasons to sustain the strike, the death of Iyayi has, obviously, changed the general situation. According to him, even if not all the demands have been satisfied by the government, ASUU leaders and members shall consider calling off the strike, in Iyayi's honour.
He also turned to the FG stating that "education should not be toyed with by any government that is intent on developing the country".
He added, that allocation of resources in the country shall be reasonable and that the demands by ASUU were not out of place.
