Former Nigerian Footballer, Sani Abacha, Dies

Former Nigerian footballer Sani Abacha died early Thursday morning in Ilorin. The defender played for such Nigerian clubs as Enyimba, Shooting Stars, Gateway and Kwara United. Wednesday, he  attended Nigeria Premier League game between ABS (Abubakar Bukola Saraki) and Nasarawa United teams. Alloy Chukwuemeka, general manager of ABS describes the late footballer as the "pastor" of their team, as he used to make speeches before every game.
According to Chukwuemeka, Abacha did the usual ritual before the game on Wednesday, and watched the match. He slumped at home, and died in hospital on Thursday morning. Also, the Team Manager of Kwara United, Ibrahim Basambo Agboola expressed deep shock over the death of the former player of the club. He described Abacha as a dedicated player who contributed immensely to the growth of the club. Late Abacha was a pastor at the Redeemed Church of God in Ilorin, is survived by a pregnant wife, and three children, two boys and a girl. After his retirement from active football, Abacha founded Shining Stars Football Club, a club he was nursing until his death.
Abacha was buried in Ilorin.
