Luka Modric 'ready to come' to Manchester United

Manchester United have been provided with a significant boost in their pursuit of Luka Modric after the Real Madrid midfielder claimed he is 'ready' to secure a transfer to Old Trafford.
The Croatia international has been linked with a move to Manchester United as the Premier League champions strive to recruit a playmaker of some repute before the close of the transfer window. Manchester United have been credited with an approach for Modric, although recent reports claim they may prove fruitless in their attempts to sign the player, given the recent injury to Real Madrid anchorman Xabi Alonso. However, Modric is reported to have told teammates while on international duty that a move to Manchester United holds some appeal, and he would be prepared to join the club - if they can strike a deal with Real Madrid. "If the clubs agree, I am ready to come to Manchester United," Modric said, according to Croatian daily Jutarnji list. Modric is one of several creative midfielders to have been tracked by Manchester United so far this summer, with David Moyes desperate to acquire a player capable of filling the void left by the departure of Paul Scholes. Cesc Fabregas had been identified as Moyes' top target, but the Red Devils were unable to persuade Barcelona to allow the former Arsenal captain to leave the Camp Nou.
